About James Prechel

James Prechel and his dog Amelia

I have always enjoyed photography, but it wasn’t until about five years ago when I was trying to take some action shots of my dog, Ace, that I started down the road to becoming a professional photographer.  I really struggled with those action shots taken with my little Sony point and shoot camera.  I was trying to get a good action shot of Ace to enter into a corgi website photo contest.  I did the best I could with the equipment I had, and ended up getting second place.  I was hooked!

I began learning all I could about photography by taking classes and workshops for everything from  pet photography to weddings. (By the way, I don’t shoot weddings, and don’t plan to.  Too much stress!)  While I was perfecting my craft, my two cardigan welsh corgis, Ace and Amelia, were my models.  They taught me a lot about photography, and even more about patience.

I started James Prechel Photography in 2009.  I photographed mostly children and families.  Then in 2010, I started Flying Aces Pet Photography (named in honor of Ace and Amelia) as a division of “JPP.”  This worked well for a while. I had a people photography business and a pet photography business.  Eventually the line between the two became to complicated, so I decided to simply go back to “James Prechel Photography” as a single entity.

So what does all this mean to you?  James Prechel Photography is here photography your entire family. Mommies, Daddies, couples, kids, and pets!  I don’t want to leave anyone out of that gorgeous canvas hanging above your sofa.  James Prechel Photography also means quality.  You work hard for your money, and I promise to work just as hard to earn your business.

If you have any other questions about me or James Prechel Photography please don’t hesitate to ask.  Feel free to call me at (956) 320-7150 or email me at moreinfo@jamesprechelphotography.com. Currently on most weekdays, I am “Mr. Mom” to two twin babies born in September of 2010 (as you can imagine, my kids have taken over for Ace and Amelia as my primary models).  So please don’t be shy about leaving a message or sending an email as I often have my hands full throughout the day!  I will return your call or email a soon as possible.
